With competency-based pay, an employee is paid for the range, depth and types of skills and knowledge he/she is capable of using in the job rather than for the position they hold. The "new pay" approach to compensation attempts to address organizational needs to motivate employees and support organizational strategies.

- Describing HR’s role in compensation and benefits

- Producing relevant total reward strategies

- Identifying compensation and benefit methodologies needed to achieve business objectives

- Key factors driving personnel system change and evaluation criteria;

- New and emerging compensation practices, approaches and applications;

- Broad-banding and managing classification/compensation;

This learning session involves the participants in developing competency-based succession plan. They will learn the process of identifying long-range needs and cultivating a supply of internal talent to meet those future needs. Succession planning is used to anticipate the future needs of the organization and assist in finding, assessing and developing the human capital necessary to the strategy of the organization.

Participants will have an opportunity to learn how to design and implement competency-based succession planning programs. Topics include:

- Obtain leadership support

- Assemble a Succession Planning Team

- Identify the leadership gaps

- Assess the readiness of current staff to assume those leadership positions

- Identify high-potential employees

- Diagnose their strengths and developmental needs

- Select and implement strategies for accelerating the development of these employees
